Tried Thai Mama in Maryland Heights for the first time and I’m already planning my next visit. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. I had the chicken curry puffs (crispy and delicious), Nam Tok beef at spice level 2 (just enough heat to keep things exciting), coconut noodle soup (creamy comfort in a bowl), and mango with sweet rice (so fresh and perfectly sweet). I also tried both the Thai espresso martini and the Mai Tai—strong, balanced, and a great match for the bold flavors. The service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere was casual but inviting. Definitely a new favorite! Follow me for more foodie finds, hidden gems, and delicious St. Louis eats.
The atmosphere was very nice and the staff very friendly. I got the crab Rangoon, panang curry with chicken and shrimp along with a Thai iced tea. The tea was blended perfectly and very refreshing. The crab rangoon was a bit on the oily side but overall not bad. The curry though was excellent and the portions were large.
Nice place, small but comfy The complementary soup they gave at the beginning before meal IS DELICIOUS. Curry taste good (I ordered yellow curry) but it is kinda spicy, although I ordered level 1, mild one. The appetizers are all amazing Price wise it is alright. Place is clean, well maintained.
The food my family experienced was exceptional! I highly recommend the spicy noodles with shrimp. (It's called drunken noodles at the Vietnamese restaurant back home in ohio.) I understand the few complaints online regarding the lack of warm welcomes, however culturally I wasn't expecting long intimate dialogue or recommendations. Sometimes you need to just understand the type of establishment you're entering before you post harsh remarks about things like "friendliness", etc. The older women working on a Sunday night probably did more hard work than most young people do in a week. The food was so good that after our visiting group had a poor meal at a local steakhouse, I actually went straight back to Thai Mama and ordered the same meal to go because I was still hungry! My only complaint is the poor air ventilation. I've been cooking a long time and recognized when a kitchen is cooking stir fry oil so hot that it causes a "haze" of smoke in the dining room. Not too much where I'd have to leave, but enough to make me consider takeout instead of dine-in. But most of us tourists visiting are just look for amazing food which this establishment delivers! Well done Mama! If I ever return to St Louis you'll be on my list of stops!
Highly enjoyed my experience here. Here's what I ordered: Appetizers: Crispy Spring Rolls Entree: Pad Woon Sen I love thai street dishes and Pad Woon Sen is one of them. It is glass noodles, with garlic seasoning and veggies. As true to Thai dishes, it was bursting with flavors that compete to be the dominant taste in your mouth. This met my expectations. The eggs that were fried and mixed in were chunky, which allowed it a flavor of its own and I appreciated that, whereas often, eggs will be scrambled and broken up to too small of pieces to contribute to the experience. The chicken was very tender, which is not inherently bad, however there were no sear marks on it, which makes me believe the chicken was cooked and added onto the dish afterward, rather than fried with the dish. Neither bad or good - just a note.
Went for a Wednesday night dinner and it was a great choice! We were happily greeted at the door and was seated. We loved the mixed style seating which gave a personal feel to every table. The staff was very polite and attentive. The owner came around and talked to us a few times and engaged with us personally. Will definitely be coming back!
We had an amazing experience- this was my first Thai Food experience! I would upload a photo of the food but we ate it so quickly! I had the spicy noodles with steak, spicy chicken pad tai and an appetizer sampler. We also had a shark attack and Thai tea. Must come back!
Very authentic Thai food with great flavors. We ordered the Pad Thai with shrimp, and it was delicious and came in a generous portion. The menu is very clear, with pictures and detailed descriptions of the ingredients, which we really appreciated. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall, a great experience — we’ll definitely be back!
We tried Thai Mama for lunch. This place is a little hidden gem. The service was fast and polite. The meal started with a complimentary cup of soup as soon as you are seated. We each got curry; our food came out reasonably fast and was great. They do close in the afternoon, so double check the hours before you go. It’s well worth stopping in if you’re looking for a new place to try.
Stopped in for lunch...about 7 other patrons. Service was very quick and polite. Ordered Pork Pad Kra Pao...Thai hot. Before my main dish...they brought me a small bowl of Khao Tom..it was a wonderful surprise and very tasty. Main dish served immediately after...flavors were great. Should you try Thai Mama...take a moment to look around as almost every table set if different. Very modestly priced too.
